Meeting our partners- Uncle Charles
Kristi met Ikwarit Charles (back row, right) in 2015 while on a mission trip to Uganda. At that time, he was working as a house father for orphans through a US based organization, New Hope Uganda. He felt called by God to move with his family to his hometown of Kumel, Uganda and serve the most vulnerable orphans and widows in his community. He opened El Elyon Child Transformation Uganda (ECHITU) and now ensures twenty children receive prayer, education and medical care when needed. He is a visionary with integrity and a heart to serve and we are so blessed by his partnership.

Anistemi in Uganda

Anistemi has partnered with ECHITU since its inception. This organization works with families who would not otherwise have access to education, medical care and daily food rations. We have witnessed the ministry of Uncle Charles grow from eight to twenty children served. God has provided a motorbike, office space, financial manager, van, and the investment of cows and mattresses for each family.
In 2024, Anistemi gifted a cow to each of the families served by ECHITU. This provides a sustainable source of food and income. Milk can be eaten or sold. Manure from the animals fertilizes food crops, helping families grow more fruits and vegetables. And the livestock's offspring can be sold for ongoing income.

The church and entire community come to bless the gift of this vehicle for Uncle Charles and ECHITU.
In 2024, the majority of those served by ECHITU were sleeping on dirt in mud and grass huts. Anistemi wanted to meet this most basic need and purchased mats for each individual family member.

Future Plans

Anistemi is partnering with Uncle Charles to build a vocational school. Land has been purchased and boundary fencing secured. Six vocations will be offered to anyone interested in gaining skills, confidence and a hope for a better future. The specific vocations were chosen by ECHITU and their team based on opportunities that will be successful in this area. Those options will be:
-
Welding and metal work
-
Carpentry and joinery
-
Building construction
-
Motor vehicle mechanics
-
Fashion, design & tailoring
-
Cosmetology & hair dressing
